That will be the final proof that is or not a software issue. Didn't had the chance to boot with a Linux live distro. Did you load or unbox this laptop? I am thinking that during the OOBE someone choose a strange keyboard layout? Let me tell you why I didn't took the efective path of test and fail. I've had them myself, like windows keys not working, not being able to right click, etc and OS reinstall always fixed the issue. I had a HP laptop with an intermittent track pad problem, I wasted a lot of time troubleshooting it until I claimed the warranty for repairs.īest bet would be use external keyboard and see if issue follows, although that really doesn't prove that the keyboard is faulty or it's an OS issue because the data input is different between the two. If the external works then the laptop is at fault, you might get some mileage by reconnecting the keyboard ribbon cable but will probably be best to warranty the thing. More than likely the laptop keyboard is at fault, plug in an external and see if it works. What you are saying makes complete sense but, as far as I can tell, it is not an hardware problem.
